Troubleshooting Z83F Media Players

IssueCommon Causes

No display/Black Screen

  • Media Player is not powered on.
  • Display is not set to correct input.
  • Power outlets are not active.
  • Power adapter is faulty.
  • Media player is faulty.

Content Frozen

  • Software issue, reboot media player.
  • Display is set to 4K resolution, some videos cause these devices to freeze when resolution is 1080p or higher. Exit app and change resolution in windows.

Activation Code Displayed on Screen


  • Device is not activated. Contact FPDS support to activate.
  • Network change or configuration file corruption. Remove configuration file and restart application. If that does not resolve issue, contact FPDS support.

Screen Shows Loading Symbol

  • Device is having network connectivity issues.
  • Device time is set incorrectly. Set time in Windows.

  

 No Display/Black Screen


  • Verify that device is powered on. Power is indicated by a small blue LED on the top of the device.


 

  • Make sure the your TV/Display is on the right input by checking through the inputs on the TV/Display using the remote or the physical buttons on the TV/Display. Consult the TV/Manual manual or contact FPDS Support for more information.


  • Try using a different video cable, I.E. a new HDMI cable or a VGA cable if one is available and your TV/Display supports it.  

 


  • You can try to test the player by plugging it in to a different TV if one is available.

  


  • Verify that the TV has power, and is powered on



  • If the device is powering on and the TV/Display appears to be working properly, please contact FPDS support either through email or phone (855)-961-0700

 Content Frozen


  • In the event of the screen being frozen, you may plug in a mouse (if accessible) and move it to the top left corner. (Note you wont be able to see the mouse cursor so move it until you see a blue outlined box in the corner) 
    • Reset the application by going to the top left corner of the screen and click 5 times until the following menu appears: 

                            

  • Click the reload button to restart the digital signage application. 


  • If the media player doesn't respond to the Reload or Reboot command, physically reset the media player by holding down the power button for 5 seconds. You may also remove the power adapter from the rear of the media player. Power the media player back on by reinserting the power adapter, or by pressing the power button for 3-5 seconds (after power has been restored). 



 


  

If The Image Is Low Quality Or Not The Correct Size

  • Check if the display settings are set properly. Typically, these media players are set to 1920x1080 (Landscape) or 1080x1920 (portrait). In Windows at the desktop, right click the Desktop background, and select "Display settings".


  •  Find the option for 'Display Resolution'. If it is not set properly, change it to the desired resolution and orientation, and then click 'Apply'. 

 



Activation Code Displayed on Screen


  • If the activation code is being displayed (similar to the photo below), there is either a network issue, or the media player has lost its configuration. Please contact us to resolve. 

 

 


 Loading Symbol


  • If the display has been on a loading symbol for an extended period of time (more than 10 minutes), there can be a few causes. 
    • A content playback error. 
    • Network connectivity issues. 
    • The time on the media player is incorrect (which causes a network issue). 
  • Reset the media player by removing power and reconnecting the power. 
  • If a reset does not resolve the issue, please contact us for further assistance.
