TV/Display shows 'No Signal' when using a Windows based media player
If a TV/Display shows 'No Signal', it means that the TV/Display is not registering the connection to the media player.
Basic Steps
If one step doesn't work, proceed to the next.
- Verify that the media player is powered on. Check for a power light, or any other signal that the device is on. If it does not appear to be on, try to power on the device by pressing the power button.
- Verify that the TV/Display is on the correct input.
- Use the remote for the TV/Display to select the input or source. Usually the button on the remote will be labeled 'Input' or 'Source'. Select the correct input, usually HDMI1.
- You can also try changing to a different source. Some TVs will highlight which sources are connected. Refer to the manual for your TV/Display for more detailed instructions.
- If none of the input sources are working, change back to the source the TV/Display was originally on.
- Reboot the media player. If the media player is online and functioning, we can usually do this for you. If we are unable to access the device, it is typically okay to unplug the power from the media player, count to 10, and plug it back in. It is not advised to do this frequently.
- Unplug the HDMI/DisplayPort cable from the media player, count to 10 and plug it back in.
- Unplug the power to the TV/Display, count to 10, and plug it back in.
- Once the TV/Display powers back on, verify it is on the correct input.
- It may be necessary to power cycle/reboot the media player again.

Advanced Troubleshooting
For internal use or for advanced users.
- Verify that the monitor is registered as the proper display in settings.
- Right click on the desktop
- Go to 'Display Settings'
- Go to 'Advanced Display Settings'
- Check the Display Name in the Advanced display settings. If it says 'Wired Display' - there's a chance it isn't registering properly.
- Right click on the Start Menu
- Go to 'Device Manager'
- Expand the 'Display Adapters' section.
- Right click on the appropriate Display Adapter and click 'Uninstall device'
- Once the uninstall has completed, reboot the device.
- This will usually force a renegotiation of the display and often times resolve the issue.
- Right click on the appropriate Display Adapter and click 'Uninstall device'
- If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be recommended to change the type of display cable, remove any display cable adapters present, or replace the display cable.
